Cloth & Paper Belts 8" x 19" Belts
Several sanding machines require 8" x 19" sanding belts. American Sanders® EZ-8 Expandable Drum Sanders, also known as Clarke® American Sanders, HireTech® and Rent Link® belt sanders all employ this size belt. Virginia Abrasives carries cloth and paper sanding belts for use on these machines. You can also choose between three different abrasive grain types, which are listed below.
Choosing the Right Belt
Aluminum Oxide 8" x 19" belts, perfect for rental applications, are listed on this page and you have a choice between cloth or paper backing. It is important to recommend sanding a floor with three progressively finer grits to achieve best results. Additionally, remember to teach your customers about the value of using a mesh screen between finish coats to knock down fibers that naturally rise up when the finish is applied.
Other Abrasive Types
Aluminum oxide is widely used in rental applications because it is suitable for wet or dry surface preparation. It can also be used for cleaning, deburring, and cutting of various metals, glass, rubber, stone, plastic, ceramics, and materials like fiberglass. It is available from Virginia Abrasives in an extensive line of our products, from backstand and bench grinder belts, sanding discs and sheets, and jumbo rolls.
For professional use, however, most prefer Silicon Carbide or Ceramic for the way the abrasive grains micro-fracture and because of the scratch patterns. You can find links to those products here:
